Why work for a nursing agency

So, if you’re reading this article chances are you’re either working in, or looking to work within the care industry. You’re just not sure about what route to take and what the benefits of each are. You’ve come to the right place! Let’s jump straight in.

Flexibility

In most agencies, flexibility is one of the biggest benefits. Shifts will become available and due to the nature of an agency, it’ll be on a first-come-first-served basis. So if you don’t want to work a day for some reason or another, instead of using your holiday or pulling a sickie, you’re able to simply turn it down.

Training

We can’t speak for other agencies. However, at HappyCareOne we offer training courses which meet industry standards. As a result, you’ll be trained in many areas such as:

  • Mental health awareness

  • Health & safety

  • Dementia care

  • Food hygiene

  • First aid awareness

  • Fire training

  • Infection control

  • Safe administration of medicines

Variety

Again, one of the natures of a nursing agency is that there is a lot of variety. Chances are, you’ll be working in many different care homes, day in, day out. So you need to have certain qualities as an individual to really cope well with the type of role on offer. This plays well to certain personalities but no so much to others.

The positives however are huge! If you’re the type of individual that gets bored stuck in their ‘Day Job’, going to the same place, doing the same tasks, every, single, day. Then working for a nursing agency could be for you! You’ll experience going to a variety of different care homes, some you’ll love and yes, some you’ll hate! You’ll work with a wide variety of people and most importantly, you’ll be able to to the lives and spread so many more smiles within the community!

Higher Pay

One of the most common misconceptions with full time employment vs working for an agency is rate of pay. Yes, most of the time the base rate of pay will be the same. However, through an agency there are some perks which increase your earning capacity and potential!

  • You can claim for mileage allowance at the rate of 45p per mile, from and to all places of work

  • Overtime is often available within agencies, meaning you can work as many or as few hours as you like. Your earning capacity is within your control
